Click pic to view comments - Confirmed sighting: Coca-Cola Relentless Confirmed sighting: Coca-Cola Relentless
Posted: 13:13 Wed 22-Feb-2006. Price: 89p/ 500ml. Location: Somerfields, Dursley; Sainsbury's Metro, London. Nutritional unusualness: Energy drink in huge 500ml special brew style can; "Not suitable for children, pregnant women and those sensitive to caffeine", according to their website.
"nordelius" reports: Seemed to be a Red Bull clone marketed at emo kids by Coca-Cola. Grey/ brown industrial-looking can with tattoo logo on the front. Various OCD advertising copy. Tastes like a sweeter, frutier, Red Bull but has the same caffeine content...

...ie, probably about 32mg caffeine per 100ml (though bear in mind that a 500ml can of "Relentless" presumably delivers about 160mg caffeine in total, about twice as much as the 80mg in a smaller can of Red Bull - usually considered the equivalent of "one cup of filtered coffee"). Once again, first-time spotter "nordelius" saw this first, but "Lee Maguire" provided the tastefully golden-tinted picture, lamenting: Something that, dear god, tastes a bit like Red Bull - but sold in what appears to be a beer can designed for Goths. At less than half the price of "the bull". I'll let you know how effective it is at about 5am, after my eighth can. And you can see more of "Lee Maguire's" comments at about 1:30 into the debut episode of Mooky TV (various links to 71 megabyte Quicktime movie) - they did ask if they could quote bits of the site, and I figured it was OK (for instance, for purposes of criticism or review), as long as they didn't get any less polite than the tagline "Keeping Britain Stocky".

Comment: ha ha, keeping britain stocky indeed. and i wonder if this is what they did with all the 500ml cans that they used to sell diet coke in, before the 500ml pet bottles were common?

Comment: Yes I also think that with the "main sightings" you should be able to click on the image and be able to see it in large size. Just like you can with the secondary sightings.

Comment: http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/ [URL display truncated] "We hope to engage consumers with a highly experiential and motivating brand launch inspired by the attitude and artistry found within the world of core action sport and modern punk rock," [the product launch manager] said.

*Modern* punk rock, mind.

Actually, what *is* the album cover that that medical textbook headshot is reminding me of?

Comment: the one that appears if you click "relentless energy" at http://www.relentlessenergy.com/ ?

looks a bit like the "Sisters Of Mercy" logo to me... http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B000005RMY.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Comment: Finally tried this, fearing the big can would stop me getting to sleep for a week, but this turned out to be by far the best of the taurine drinks - it makes the foul, bitter, grapefruity Irn Bru and Sprite ones taste like monkey-wee by comparison. As the original poster said, much like a slightly sweeter, slighty fruitier Red Bull. Lovely.

Comment: Just bought a tin of Relentless from Knutsford M6 Motorway services had to pay £1.59 but needed to try it and got to say this is a really nice drink.

Comment: You paid £1.59 for a small can of this??

That's an appalling price to pay, I honestly believe inflation is being covered up in a big way in Britain so they can keep interest rates low,

It will all come tumbling down in a recession soon enough and I hope cowboy companies get the full effect of it

Comment: You are not going to believe this.

I was stuck in traffic, in beckenham, london, and bought a can of this earlier. Cracked it open, took a huge swig, then a policeman knocked on the window and to cut a long story short he thought I was drinking a can of Kestrel Super Strength. He checked out the can, sniffed it, and smiled - then let me go.

Going to get it again - tastes ok and is great first thing in the morning with a hangover.

Comment: Far more drinkable than redbull, and with the big cans, and price differential, I can see caffeine poisoning being the hobby of the near future!
